Track Notes, 5/10/13

Congratulations goes to our hard working and dedicated girls on their 2A Sectional Championship last night in Dunlap!  Versatility and depth added to some outstanding winning performances last night all adding up to a 30+ point win.  The coaches are very proud of this team as I'm sure you are too!  They are a talented group and a fun to coach!

Congratulations to our State Qualifiers ... Erika Simple in three events, 100, 200 and 400, Ashley LaFayette in the 3200 and 1600, Gabi Jacobs in the Shot and Discus, Chante Stonewall in the 100H and 300H, Sydney Billingsley in the 1600, Shannan Supan in the 3200. (I hope that is a complete list ... a little groggy this morning!) State Meet information will be sent out as soon as arrangements are confirmed.  For planning purposes, qualifiers will leave in the late morning next Thursday and return late Saturday afternoon.  Our prelims will be Friday and finals are Saturday.  If you can make time, consider attending.  It is one of the nation's premier high school meets and I can honestly state I have never been to a better high school track event.  So worth the trip!!

Thanks you to all the parents, friends and family support last night.  What a wonderful group of supportive parents we have this year!  Special thanks go out to the O'Shea's for making gifts bags for the entire team, The Kneller's for the Grove Street Bakery cookies and the Smiley's for the Animal Crackers, Gatoraide and water.  I hope I didn't miss anyone ... you helped make the meet with not so nice weather a memorable one!

If possible, I would like all team members to stop by the fitness room this afternoon after school to pick up your gift bags and a cookie if you haven't already received yours.  I cannot guarantee the bags or cookies will survive another delay so come and get it or there may only be crumbs left to salvage!

Today's quote is a shout out to our team that showed character ... especially the last few weeks.  Having more than our share of injuries, they competed without excuses.  They showed class in both a close defeat in Conference and in winning at Sectionals.  There has been no need to remind them they represent each other, familes and a great school ... they have in a manner that makes the coaches proud to call them our team.

Quote of the Day:

"To dream anything you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind.  To do anything you want to do, that is the strength of the human will.  To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed."
