Track Notes, 3/14/13

Overall, a good meet last night!  These first meets are an opportunity to see what the competition looks like and for the athlete to get a feel for where they are conditioning wise .... it's easy to put too much emphasis on early season meets.  We do like what we see so far ... athletes who want to compete, fitness level improving and a group that represents our school/team well.  We will walk away from this meet with many things to work on (including properly warming up and cooling down) but confident we have athletes who care enough to get it done.

Thanks to our parents, families and our boys team for their support last night.  I hope you enjoyed watching the girls compete.  I know they appreciate your being there!  Also, John and I want to thank Eric Simple, Peter Truflmuk, Natalie, Karonji Carr, and Coach Hampton who always give their personal time to support our girls, at practice and at meets.  Can't imagine being able to do all that is needed to run a team properly without their help.

There will be a voluntary practice for my group (sprinters and jumpers) tomorrow morning at 8a at the ISU outdoor track.  It's just an opportunity for anyone interested to get some extra reps in and then to work on approaches and jumps.  Any throws athlete can attend also for some time to throw and lift.  The weather looks nice but it will still be fairly cold at that time so PLEASE bring layers and include a hat and gloves.  The distance runners already have a practice set for Friday.

Reminders:

Photos Monday, please bring your uniform to include black shorts.  You will need a check for your photo package also.  Please see my last note for details and the U-High web site for photo package descriptions and costs.

Immediately following photos, we have the Clinton Indoor Meet to be held at IWU.  I will post times and assignments this weekend.

If you haven't already done so, please check out our team web site.  There is a link from the U-High athletics web site.  Tammy Baker posts all e-mails as well as other information on this site for your convenience.
