Track Notes, 4/24/13

Thanks to the families and friends who came out to see the Intercity Meet on Monday.  We would have loved to send our Seniors out with a city championship but circumstance dictated differently.  The good news is, despite injury and Illness, our girls were completely competitive in the meet.  Many athletes finished with personal bests and we even had another school record set in the Shot Put ... Gabi Jacobs throwing 44" 6".  I am glad to be taking this team into the conference meets and Sectionals the next two weeks.

This Friday we are in Urbana.  Meet information and assignments are attached.

I hope all the athletes let you know practice will start today at 4:15p and we should be finished by 6:15p, no later than 6:30p.  This late start was necessary to be able to get on the ISU track.  This late start may happen a few times these final 3 weeks.

After the conference meets next week, only the athletes on the Sectional roster will be required to come to practice.  Sectional assignments will be determined after the end of next week.

As always, let me know if you have questions or concerns.  Thanks!

Staging Area:  All running events except for the 300 meters hurdles and the 200 meter dash will be staged at the southeast end of the track behind the 100 meter dash start line.  The 300 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash will be staged at the start line for those events.  All athletes must pick up a hip number at the table in the mechanical room before reporting to the staging area.

2013 Work Assignments:  To insure that we have enough workers and the meet runs efficiently, each school is needed to provide one worker to serve as a timer and/or head field event judge.  The assigned schools should provide one adult (assistant coach, knowledgeable parent, or student teacher) to cover their area.  A list of work assignments will be sent to you with your meet program on Wednesday.  Thank you for your understanding and support.

Parking: Available parking spaces will be limited on this day.  To maximize the use of the parking spaces in our parking lot, please have your bus drivers park their vehicles in the available space on Broadway Ave., Michigan Ave, Race St., or have them use the Urbana Middle School parking lot that is located off of Vine St. Parking is also available is the high school lot on the north side of the building.
