Track Notes, 3/27/13

Parents:
Results from our meets last weekend should be posted on our web site later today.
Our first outdoor meet will be next Tuesday afternoon at Eureka High School's new track.  Looks like a meet many of our athletes will be able to compete in.   Hopefully, you will be able to come support our team in springlike weather!

The practice schedule for this Easter weekend:
Friday, March 29th, 8a - 10a/1030a
No practice Saturday or Sunday
Monday, April 1, 1p - 3p/330p

Athletes:
If you have family plans that take you out of town for either practice, you need to let me know by e-mail and you will be excused.  All other athletes are expected to be at practice ... on time!  Please be prepared for both indoor and outdoor practice.  If we can reserve the indoor track, we will conduct some of our practice indoors, otherwise we will be outside the entire time.  Please bring a water bottle to practice both days.

These next few weeks are an important training time ... it will prep us to meet the goals we set.  At least as important as physical training is;
Fluid intake ... DRINK WATER, lots of it!  Carry a water bottle to school and practice.
Eat, eat well and often.  Consider bringing a snack (fruit, cereal bar, GORP, etc ...) to have as a mid morning snack and especially within an hour of practice. Try to avoid junk food and drastically reduce soda intake.
Rest ... the most overlooked part of training.  Athletes need a minimum of 8 hours sleep each night.  Telling yourself otherwise is simply fooling yourself.
Neglecting any of the above means your habits are working against you.

Quote of the Day:

"Races always evoke some dread about pain that will come. But we can't escape the fact that the more discomfort we accept in a race, the faster we will run. Successful racing means courting the pain."
John Elliot
